We
are glad that you are actively choosing Omuteko
Gwamaziima for your child. Please remember
your special responsibilities, outlined in our
parent participation form.
Although
your child spends many hours a day at school,
you are still their primary educator. Your
involvement in your child's education often makes
the difference between success and falling short.
With this in mind, we have prepared these links
to online resources that will reinforce math and
reading concepts at home. Additionally,
we may assign your child some of these exercises
as homework for extra practice. We encourage
you to closely supervise your child's use of the
Internet and suggest that you use the computer
lessons as quality together time with your child.

Many
parenting decisions you make have a significant
effect on your child's ability to learn effectively
in school. We ask that you try to adhere to
these rules in the best interest of your child.
Ensure
your child gets adequate sleep --
pediatricians say that a six-year-old needs
11-12 hours of sleep a night while a twelve-year-old
still needs 10 hours. A sleepy child
is not a good learner!
Give
your child a good breakfast.
Its hard for a child to sit through class
when they are "Starving!!!". We offer
breakfast onsite at a reasonable cost (free
or reduced cost to those who qualify).
Whether your child eats at school or at
home, make sure they eat.
Help
your child learn good study habits
and establish early the trait of responsibility.
We encourage you to ask questions like:
"Have you done your homework?", "What do
you need to bring to school tomorrow?" or
"What are you going to do to make sure you
get an 'A' on the next test?
