The name Omuteko
Gwamaziima (Oh-moo-TAY-koh Gwah-mah-ZEE-mah) comes from
the Haya language of Tanzania and translates into English
as "a place of higher learning and spiritual development where
youth are grounded in truth."
The
school opened in the fall of 1998 as a private school
and began operating as a charter school in the fall
of 1999.
We currently
enroll students in grades
K-8.
Tuition
is free to any student eligible to enroll in the Durham
Public School System.
